Liv Healthy was created to inspire you to be proactive about your health and your impact on the environment. Living Healthy is simple, and should be fun! Liv Healthy provides you with access to great resources and information to help you along your path to health & wellness.

Liv Healthy produces a health and wellness podcast called Vitamin Junkeys and distributes a unique health & wellness product called a BioMat.

Jennifer Lyall

Jennifer has had a personal interest in health and wellness for the last six years. She learns something new every day. Her first experience with natural wellness was when she used a mid-wife to deliver her children. She then learned about iridology, tried her first detox and kept learning from there.

After sharing a number of her experiences with others, she realized that there are so many people on the same path of discovery. Everyone is just at a different stage in their journey. This inspired her to create Healthy Moms Connect, a free health and wellness seminar series for mothers in her community. The monthly events are now organized by a team of incredible women. Sessions are led by local alternative health practitioners. So many people expressed an interest in attending the sessions, but were not able to make it for various reasons. This led Jennifer to create something to reach more people.

Jennifer had an idea that she wanted to create a health and wellness TV show to help educate people about alternative therapies and healthy living. With the evolution of the video on the internet, she discovered that a video podcast was the perfect medium to get the message out. With the support of Andy Walker, of Labrats.tv,who is a podcasting veteran, she connected with Dr. Jean Jacques Dugoua. This is how Vitamin Junkeys and Liv Healthy were born.

Dr. Jean-Jacques Dugoua, HBSc ND PhD (cand.)

Dr. Jean-Jacques Dugoua, or Dr. JJ as he is affectionately known, is a researcher at the Motherisk Program at Sick Kids Hospital. He is a licensed naturopathic doctor and the Clinic Director of the Liberty Clinic in downtown Toronto. Dr. JJ is the first Naturopathic Doctor to practice at the Toronto Western Hospital in the Artist Health Center. Dr. JJ is a co-author of “Herbal Medicines in Pregnancy and Lactation: An Evidence-based Approach First Edition” (Taylor & Francis, 2006), which is a collection of 75 systematic reviews published in one textbook. Dr. JJ has over a dozen peer-reviewed scientific publications published or in press. He is a leading expert on natural health products pharmacology and pregnancy safety.

Dr. JJ is an avid public speaker. He has given over two-dozen presentations to pharmacists, medical professionals, government, academics, artists and musicians, students, teachers and the general public. Dr. JJ has also given presentations internationally, including presentations at the World Health Organization in Washington DC.

Dr. JJ is currently working on his PhD in Pharmacy Sciences at the University of Toronto. As part of his PhD research, Dr. JJ continues to investigate the safety of natural products during pregnancy and lactation at Sick Kids Hospital and he is conducting a clinical trial on the effects of cinnamon on type 2 diabetes at the Toronto Western Hospital.
