Healthy Eating
  • Chet Day's - A collection of natural health articles and healthy recipes
  • Dr. Mercola's website is full of great information. If you are just starting out, learning more about health & wellness, his ideas can seem a little extreme, because many of them go against everything we've been taught. His sincerity and his passion to share information is evident.
  • Food Scout is a great resource that examines different nutrients, daily requirements and food sources for each nutrient.
  • Genetically Modified Food Guide is produced by Green Peace, Canada. This particular guide focuses on Canadian food staples and examines which foods contain the most and the least genetically modified ingredients.
  • Local eating.ca was inspired by the book the 100 Mile Diet. It is a great resource for Canadians who are endeavouring to eat local.
  • Healthy Diet Podcast has great, informative healthy audio podcasts.
  • Wellness Junction is a healthy blog.
  • The Healthy Shopper is the place to get Canadian Coupons on lots of natural and organic products.  You can find coupons for a variety of products ranging from supplements to cereal and personal care items.

Food Allergy/Intolerance Friendly Resources

I have discovered that I have several food intolerances (gluten, dairy, almonds, peanuts, kidney beans and pinto beans). What is incredible, is that when I avoid these foods, I don't have a cold. As soon as I "cheat" and have more than just one bite of these things, I get a runny nose, or stuffed up or a sore throat, or all of the above! All of this time, I have thought that I had a cold that just lingers, it's really because my body is busy trying to process the foods that I have intolerances to. These are foods that I was eating multiple times a day, so my body wasn't getting a break, and my immune system was tired.

I have decided that instead of feeling sorry for myself, I will discover new foods that I can eat & that I haven't tried before! The challenge is finding recipes for dishes I like, that take into consideration multiple food allergies.

  • Jeena's Kitchen Food Blog has great recipes, with step by step pictures too! This link takes you to a red lentil vegetarian flan recipe that is egg, dairy and gluten free!
  • Mrs. G.F. - Recipes for a Gluten Free Life
  • Celiac traveller- this awesome site has a neat Celiac card that you can print off and give to your server at restaurants.  They have this card in over 40 different languages, so it's perfect for those who travel!

  • The Beginner's Guide to Natural Living is a valuable resource for anyone who's just getting started on their journey to good health, and for those who need a little more inspiration or information.  Larry Cook is a kind and helpful guide.
