A live demonstration of IV therapy.

What's Dr. JJ taking today:  Vitamin B12 shot.
Dr. JJ has a lot of patients who take B12 injections. Often they are vegetarians, or experiencing thyroid problems or chronic fatigue.

What is IV therapy?
IV therapy is one of the most powerful modalities that naturopaths can do in their practice. IV therapy involves injecting vitamins, supplements, amino acids, etc. directly into the patient's body through the veins - intravenously. This gives the doctor access to putting nutrients directly into the patient's body. Patients usually feel the effects of the injections quickly and typically heal faster.

Who could consider IV Therapy?
People who have digestive problems or absorption problems, insomnia, stress, colds and cancer patients are some of the individuals who could consider IV therapy.

How often is IV Therapy done?
How frequently someone does IV therapy depends on the health issue they have. If it is a cold, then it may be a one time the IV. However, if they are treating cancer, then a series of visits will be scheduled based on that individual's particular needs.

How long does it take to receive the IV Therapy injection?
It typically takes 45 minutes - 1 hour to receive the injection.

IV Therapy demonstration:
Jennifer experiences IV therapy first-hand. Dr. JJ created a formula for Jennifer based on the energy and magnesium issues she has. It included: Vitamin C, B complex (it's yellow, and that's why your urine turns a dark yellow after you've taken a multi-vitamin containing Vitamin B), magnesium and calcium and sterile water to match the concentration needed to deliver it into Jennifer's blood. Dr. JJ did a vitamin "push" for Jennifer which takes about 10-15 minutes, but an intravenous drip can also be done over a longer period of time.
